Merry Christmas, dear!
This is my best Christmas ever in the last 8 years.
I used to have a crappy xmas while in Taiwan... my Christmas usually filled with exams/projects/ classes/ works and wet cold weather.
We used to celebrate christmas through msn video conference, he accompanied me through my hectic day and then i stayed awake until christmas in germany time zone... n that's it
Today, we had a mass for xmas eve at St.Ignatius Cathedral. It's unbelievable crowded there. I'd never thought that there would be "that" much catholics in china.
I'm so touched seeing those people (young/old) pray fervently, those who didn't get any seat, stood for the whole mass and they even knelt on the floor.
Negara komunis itu cuma julukan. But in fact banyak yg beragama disini :) I see Muslim, Christian, Buddhist here.. they all live in harmony. Taat beragama... khusyuk dalam berdoa. Yang atheis cuek2 aja ga saling mengganggu dan smua bersatu padu membangun negara. No wonder China will be or is a superpower country now or in the future.
We are amazed!
well.. this year .. i said "merry xmas" on his laps ;D
we'll surely treasure this moment.
Thank you God
Happy birthday Baby Jesus!

Sichuan Dry-Fried Green Beans
3 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil
1/2 pound green beans - rinsed, dried, and chopped to 2-inch lengths
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 pieces ginger, finely chopped
1 tablespoon Sichuan preserved vegetable (mustard root) - rinsed, shredded, and finely chopped
1/2 tablespoon dried shrimp, chopped
5 or 6 dried red chillis
1/2 tablespoon chilli bean sauce
1 to 2 drops sesame oii
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt, or salt to taste
Heat oil in a wok until just beginning to smoke. Add green beans and stir-fry, keeping the beans constantly moving, for about 5 minutes, or until the outsides begin to blister and the beans are wilted. Remove and set aside to drain on kitchen towels.
Remove all but 1 tablespoon of oil. Add garlic, ginger, preserved vegetable, dried shrimp, and red chillis; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Return beans to the wok, and add chilli bean sauce and sesame oil. Add sugar and stir until well-combined. Salt to taste. Dish out onto serving plate and serve while hot.
and
Kong Pao Tofu
16 ounces dou gan or extra firm tofu
2 to 3 gloves garlic, minced
5 slices of ginger
5 to 6 scallions, roughly chopped, plus some thinly sliced scallions for optional garnish
2 tablespoons peanut oil
At least 10 dried red chilis
1 tablespoon whole Sichuan peppercorns
At least one handful of dry roasted peanuts
For marinade:
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons light soy sauce
1 teaspoon Shaoxing rice wine or medium dry sherry
1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
For sauce:
3 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon dark Soy sauce
1 teaspoon light Soy sauce
2 teaspoons dark rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon chicken stock or water
Cube the tofu and mix in the marinade ingredients. Let stand while you prepare the other ingredients.
If you haven't done so already, mince the garlic and peel and slice the ginger. Roughly chop the white parts of scallions, and thinly slice the green parts for garnish (optional.) Either leave the dried chilis whole, or slice them in half and take out as many seeds as possible (wear gloves!)
In another bowl, mix together the ingredients for the sauce and set aside. (Note: Different brands of soy sauces vary in terms of saltiness, so taste your sauce. If it's too salty, add some sugar and water to dilute.)
Heat a wok with oil over high heat. Before the wok begins to smoke, add the chilis and Sichuan peppercorn. Stir-fry briefly until the chilis are slightly blistered and oil is slightly fragrant. Add tofu and stir-fry 2 to 3 minutes. Add garlic, ginger, and scallions, and stir-fry until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Pour in sauce and mix to coat the other ingredients. When the sauce is thickened and shiny, stir in peanuts.
Transfer to plates, garnish with thinly sliced scallions, and serve.

Today is an unproductive day for me. It means that as I woke up, I did nothing besides chatting and watching tv series.
Holidays season is coming, mostly everyone going back to their hometown, so my bonanzle activity is much more relaxed. Beib said just leave it for a while, and have fun.
So I'll cook something good in my spare time ;)
Today we'll have tomato yakult juice before dinner which is really refreshing and healthy. Drinking fresh juice before dinner is going to be our new habit in the house.
Then, Nasi ucek2. Nasi ucek2 is Surabaya homemade food. Very simple and easy... suitable for a lazy-no-time-to-cook wife like me hehe..
The steps are:
- scramble eggs... put aside
- stir fry chopped onion + garlic + dried shrimp (ebi)
- add the rice
- add lots of thailand fish soy sauce to season
- add the scramble egg
that's it! that's simple!
Last menu of the day is 炒A菜

Instead of using chicken stock seasoning, I used chicken broth... again... it's healthier.
Dessert:
Yummmmm....

Nico, rio's Germany colleague, who's travelled alot, wants to cook rendang using indofood instant seasoning. So we decided to help.. We brought "daun salam" and lemongrass... yasin & xtine brought bubble milk tea and fried onion...
We added chopped garlic & onion, paprika and mushroom to the rendang and it tastes gooooood!
Nico prepared lots food than we expected! We also had kartofelln salad + sausages which are also very yummy! i'll insist bebi to make the salad for me some other time :)
It's a very nice and a great day indeed :)
We played board game named "risk" .. well i'm an idiot in board game so i'm the one who lost lol
Nico introduced us to a very interesting game which is one of germany traditions on sylvester which is bleigiessen game. Im not able to explain about the game very detail / clearly here :(

A tragic incident just occurred in Pondok Labu. Ningsih who is Jocelyn's babysitter was raped 2 days ago. She was hypnotized by 3 bastard on her way back to Jakarta, she found herself naked and alone in a vacant house near Depok train station. She dragged herself back to our house and cried. Cingah brought her to doctors... to anticipate pregnancy. Ningsih is a lovable and innocent babysitter in the house.. we are all upset about this.
We often read about rape story on the newspaper however we never thought that it might happen to the person we know/ care. Curse those scoundrels! Go to hell mothafucka!
